Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

Welcome! We value your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, your rights, and how to contact us.

1. Introduction

At Qerge (“we”, “our”, “us”), we believe you should always know what data we collect and how we use it. This Privacy Policy explains that in straightforward terms.

2. What Information Do We Collect?

2.1 Info You Give Us Directly

When you interact with Qerge, you might provide us with:

  • Account info (such as your name, email address, and password)
  • Contact lists (CSV data including names, emails, and other fields you upload for QR code generation)
  • Batch details (batch names, selected columns, QR code type preferences, encryption settings)
  • Scanner details (scanner names, device assignments, and batch associations)
  • QR code data (the encrypted or raw data embedded in QR codes you generate)
  • Payment info (billing address and payment details—handled by third-party processors, not us directly)

2.2 Info We Collect Automatically

When you use Qerge, certain info is automatically logged, including:

  • Usage data (like which features you use, batches created, scanners configured, and time spent on the platform)
  • Device info (your device type, operating system, browser, and IP address)
  • Scan data (timestamp, scanner ID, batch ID, QR code identifier, and scan location when using mobile scanner apps)
  • Sync data (offline scan records that are synchronized when devices come online)
  • Error and log data (to help us keep the service running smoothly and troubleshoot issues)

2.3 Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tools to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember your settings
  • Analyze usage trends to improve Qerge
  • Tailor your experience to your needs

You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

3. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Qerge, including QR code generation, scanner management, and real-time scan tracking
  • Process and encrypt QR code data according to your preferences
  • Handle payments and subscription management across Free, Starter, and Pro plans
  • Synchronize scan data from mobile scanner apps (including offline scans)
  • Provide real-time notifications and scan history within your plan’s retention period
  • Communicate with you (for things like support or important updates)
  • Analyze what’s working (and what’s not) to keep getting better
  • Safeguard our platform and users
  • Meet any legal or regulatory requirements

4. When Do We Share Your Info?

4.1 With Our Service Providers

We work with trusted companies to help us run Qerge (payment processing, hosting, analytics, and support tools). These partners follow strict security requirements and only use your information to help us provide Qerge to you.

4.2 When the Law Requires It

We may disclose info if required by law, such as responding to court orders, lawful government requests, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

4.3 If Qerge Is Sold or Merges

If all or part of Qerge is involved in a business transfer (like a merger or sale), your info may be transferred as part of that.

4.4 With Your Permission

If you ask us to share information or give explicit consent, we will do so.

5. How Do We Keep Your Data Safe?

We take security seriously. Here’s how we work to protect your info:

  • Encrypting data during transfer and—where possible—while stored
  • Supporting encrypted QR codes to protect sensitive data embedded in codes
  • Using strong access controls and authentication for account access
  • Securing encryption keys used for QR code encryption
  • Carrying out regular security checks and audits
  • Training our team in data security best practices
  • Implementing secure synchronization for offline scan data

While we do all we can, no online service can ever be 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and encryption keys.

6. How Long Do We Keep Your Info?

We only keep your personal info as long as we genuinely need it:

  • To provide our services and run Qerge
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To resolve any disputes
  • To keep our business running smoothly

Scan History Retention:

  • Free Plan: Keep last 500 scans
  • Starter Plan: Keep last 5,000 scans
  • Pro Plan: Keep last 20,000 scans
  • Older scans beyond the limit are automatically deleted

If you delete your account, we’ll remove or anonymize your personal data (contact lists, batches, and scan history), unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

7. Your Privacy Choices & Rights

You can view and update your account information anytime in your account settings.

7.2 Download Your Data

You can export a copy of your data:

7.5 “Do Not Track”

Right now, we don’t respond to “Do Not Track” signals from browsers, but we may add this in the future.

8. Children’s Privacy

Qerge is not for anyone under 13 years old (or the equivalent age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect info from children. If you think a child’s data has been submitted, contact us immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Qerge may process your data in countries different from where you live. These countries may not have the same data protection laws as yours. By using Qerge, you agree to these possible data transfers.

Your continued use means you’re okay with the updated policy.
